Home fashions change about as often the as the fashions we wear. The trick is to incorporate what you like from this year’s look without slavishly copying it. This is particularly true with interior decorating because you are dealing with more than just a change of dress!  Painting and decorating don’t come cheap – either in time or materials. Even if you are handy enough to make your own curtains and stencil your own feature wall – the material cost certainly adds up. 

If you have just moved to a new place don’t rush into redecorating – instead make sure that you  live in it for a while before you figure out what you like and what you don’t like about it.  You may have an immediate urge to rip out the wooden blinds – only to discover that they hid a rather too detailed view of your neighbor’s bedroom.
