How Can You Treat Cellulite?

June 3rd, 2010

If you are like most average women, chances are you are struggling with cellulite. This skin condition commonly appears on the thighs, buttocks and legs, but can also be sometimes found on the neck, arms, stomach and back. It is caused by connective bands of stringy tissue which bind the fat cells underneath the skin. If these connective bands harden or tighten they bring the fat cells more tightly together. As a result, the cells then â??pop outâ? and push against the skin above them. At the same time, the connective bands also bring the skin down and dimples are formed.

There are literally thousands of different ways to get rid of cellulite. They can include creams, body wraps, massage, exercise, ultrasound cellulite treatment, herbs, supplements, dietary changes, body scrubs, plastic surgery, sound wave and laser therapy. All aim to treat the cause of cellulite by either relaxing or softening the connective tissue and releasing the fat cells.

Anti cellulite lotion is the most fashionable treatment at the moment. They are easy to apply and use but can be messy and there is an ongoing cost as you need to keep up your monthly supply. Massage is usually performed in a beauty clinic using a commercial anti cellulite machine and, while effective, can be costly. Finally, the third most popular treatment is cosmetic surgery. This is a painful and somewhat risky operation but it is the only method that will lead to permanent results.
